Reggie Confirms Storage Solution In the Works!
Multiplayer: One of the other things about hardware is that there’s been a lot of questions about the state of storage for the system. There was the retracted comment about “geeks and otaku” from the representative form Nintendo of Europe. But there are people who are downloading WiiWare games and finding that they are running out of room. There are channels in Mario Kart and Wii Fit that take up storage space. DLC coming for “Guitar Hero: World Tour” that’s going to have to be put on SD cards if you want to have a lot of music. Clearly there are a lot of reasons to provide extra storage. Are you guys planning on providing extra storage?
Fils-Aime: We have said publicly that we’re looking hard at the storage situation, that we’re working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly it’s an issue we are aware of and we’re working to find a solution and we will.

Well, it seems that GTA may be possible for the Wii. It is said to use the PS2's San Andreas Engine. It is also stated to come out in Fall of 2009. Hopefully a Wii exclusive since the PS3 and X360 got GTAIV.

Resident Evil 5... Coming for Wii?
Sega's President told Kotaku that Resident Evil 5 would come to the Wii, but it seemed to be just a "simple slip of the tongue". Hopefully Resident Evil 5 for the Wii was meant to be a secret, but accidentally stated that it would. You know... Hopefully.

Nintendo controllers facing possible ban
Tuesday, July 22, 2008It was already known that Nintendo was on the hook for $21 million in a patent suit over the company's controllers. A Texas judge last week denied the game maker's request for a new trial, and Bloomberg is reporting that the judge will issue a ban to halt sales of the controllers tomorrow.
However, if the ban were to be issued, it would not take effect until after a Nintendo appeal on the original ruling was resolved. Nintendo could also avoid the ban by posting a bond or putting royalties into an escrow account, according to Bloomberg.
The original suit sought to have Nintendo's Wii Classic Controller, Wii Nunchuk, GameCube controller, and GameCube WaveBird all deemed in violation of an Anascape patent for a "six degrees of freedom" interface device. A jury found that all of those products, with the exception of the Wii Nunchuk, infringed on Anascape's patent.
Microsoft was also named as a defendant in the suit, but settled out of court before it went to trial. Sony has licensed the patent for use in its own products since 2004.

"Friend Codes are not Perfect"
Probably the biggest flaw in Nintendo’s online system is friend codes. It’s Nintendo’s way of keeping kids safe from online harassment. But even Nintendo President Satoru Iwata doesn’t think they are perfect, and he also says Nintendo is trying to improve Wii’s online service. More info after the break.
In an interview with GameDaily, Iwata was asked how Nintendo’s approach to online may be changing.
Iwata answered with this, “First of all, I don’t think the current system we have with friend codes is perfect. However, if it’s an online world where you can get access to anybody without any restrictions, I as a father do not feel like allowing my daughter be engaged in that kind of world. So for Nintendo, especially in terms of the people who have never experienced online video games before, we think that it’s still very important to create a world where we can assure that there will be no harassment for these online beginners, and we really want to assure the security and safety for them to do that. So we will be studying this on an ongoing basis in order to improve Nintendo’s own circumstances where people can freely and safely enjoy the communications through the net.”

Feature: E3 2008 [Other Games]
Friday, July 18, 2008By Pierst179
Nintendo does enjoy messing with their fans. If during the first hours of the day most fans were going through deep disappointment and some of them were angry enough to state that the company had betrayed them in order to seek immense piles of gold that casual fans hold a bright light started shinning on the horizon because Mr. Miyamoto had some pretty interesting things to say about a few games that are supposedly being developed on Nintendo's headquarters.
Matt Casamassina from IGN did a great job by asking the correct questions to the man who directs Nintendo's most important projects, and as a reward he had some good revelations to show the fans. Miyamoto hinted that new Zelda games are being produced both for the Nintendo DS and for the Nintendo Wii since he said the two Zelda teams were working really hard and exchanging some nice and new ideas between them since members from the teams keep moving from one game to another.
When asked about a new Kid Icarus game he said he was not the producer of any Kid Icarus games and therefore wouldn't be able to comment on that. It sure isn't a confirmation, but it implies that there is someone within Nintendo that is indeed the producer of a Kid Icarus game. Later on the same interview Matt told him he really wanted to see a new Super Mario Galaxy game, to that Miyamoto replied "Leave it to me" which must rank among E3's coolest moments.

As I have already said more than a thousand times I know many people will say that Nintendo is being lazy when and if they indeed announce a direct sequel to Super Mario Galaxy. But the truth is the only way we will get a new Mario platform this generation if it is called "Super Mario Galaxy 2" simply because I don't think Nintendo would have time to develop a whole new concept for yet another Mario game before this generation ends, as we know the Mario Galaxy gameplay was being tested since the Nintendo 64 days.
He also said they were thinking about what to do with the Pikmin series which is no big surprise since he stated the same thing a few months ago which leads me to think that the game is either not being developed yet, or it is initiating the development process.
Other interesting games that were being shown for the Nintendo Wii:
The Conduit - This is supposed to be the ultimate FPS game on the system and according to many impressions around the internet - a few framework problems aside - the game is close to perfect. The controls are great and I don't even need to say anything about the graphics since we all know this is bound to be the best looking title for the system so far. I'm looking forward to the online multiplayer which will feature 16 players and support Wii Speak.

Call of Duty 5: World at War - I just watched a video of the game and it looks very nice. I guess Nintendo Wii owners will get two pretty good shooters in a not so distant future.
Spore Creatures DS - It is going to be awesome but where is the Wii version anyway? I'm starting to get worried because I was sure EA was going to unveil it on E3 but they just showed us a DS version of the game. I would love to see this game heading to the Wii.
GTA Chinatown Wars - My expectations for this game are pretty high, I wonder if it is going to be a 3-D or 2-D game. Based on the website of the game I know it is going to use the Wi-Fi connection and I'm curious to know how they are going to use it. GTA games have always been great and this one will sure keep the same quality the series is known for.
Dead Rising - I'm surprised to see some people calling this one a port. It is a XBOX 360 title so I don't feel as if Capcom is trying to get some easy money from Wii fans. The game looks perfect for the Wiimote and I think that was one of the main factors that contributed for the development of a Wii version. From what I read the 360 game had some flaws let's hope they are fixed on this version.
Sim City Creator - I have always loved Sim City games and I think this version won't change that. The game seems to use the Wiimote in many different ways. My only concern is if the game will be simpler than other Sim City installments since games of the series have always been quite deep and challenging, and that's what I want to see on the Wii version.

Wario Land Shake It! - I have watched so many trailers of this game today and I think it is my most anticipated game right now. I'm just worried about how long it will be. Other than that the animations are gorgeous and so are the scenarios. The game seems to present a huge array of abilities to be performed by using all the Wiimote has to offer.
I hope I didn't forget to mention any games.

Wii Music™ Fact Sheet
Wii Music™
Format: Wii™
Launch Date: Holiday 2008
ESRB: RP (Rating Pending)
Game Type: Music
Accessories: Wii Remote™, Nunchuk™, Wii Balance Board™
Players: 1-4
Developer: Nintendo
KEY INFORMATION
Create a musical masterpiece with up to four players. Anyone can play the huge selection of instruments in Wii Music with simple motions—like strumming and drumming.
• It’s easy to play improv jams. Musicians in your band jam by simply playing their instruments to the beat of a song or by improvising to their heart’s content. Play faster. Play slower. Skip a beat, or throw in 10 more. No matter what you do, Wii Music automatically transforms your improv stylings into great music. There are no mistakes—just playing for the pure joy of playing.
• Wii controls immerse you in the music. You can play most of the 60-plus instruments in Wii Music using simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar. Drum to play jazz drums, congas and marching drums. Hammer away to play piano, vibraphone and marimba. Unlike most music games, Wii Music doesn’t make you use complex buttons. You only need to imitate playing the instrument.
• Wii Music offers virtually endless ways to make music. You choose the song and instruments and decide whether to blaze through a rock take on classical songs, put a jazzy spin on folk tunes or transform Nintendo classics like the Super Mario Bros.® theme into Latin-flavored numbers. The song list is only a takeoff point—it’s how you improvise with the songs that matters.
• Send your band-jam recordings to Wii Friends who have Wii Music. They’ll see your Mii™ band members, your players’ improv styles and your instrument selections. They can watch your recordings, or play over parts of your song, then send their modified recording back to you. Improv jams can be sent back and forth over WiiConnect24 and changed again and again.
Beyond the Jam: Wii Music includes many other modes besides the main band jams, including several musical games and an enhanced video playback mode for recorded jams.
• Play it again: Use the playback mode to see your jam recordings brought to life with dramatic camera angles.
• Pick up the baton: Command an orchestra in the conducting game where you’ll wave the Wii Remote controller like a conductor’s baton to lead a Mii orchestra through orchestrated music. Make them play quickly, slowly, strongly or gently.
• Ring a bell? Play a handbells game where you’ll swing your Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to play your two handbells as part of a larger ensemble. Everyone on the team has a job to do: Play one of your notes only when the tune demands it.
• An ear for music: Take a tone quiz that tests your musical ear by giving you challenges, like putting note-playing Miis in order from lowest to highest pitch.
• Bang the drum: Play a virtual drum set in the drumming mode, the one mode in Wii Music that also uses the Wii Balance Board accessory (sold with Wii Fit™). You’ll use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers as drumsticks, and place both feet on the Wii Balance Board—which work as virtual pedals for the bass drum and hi-hat cymbal.

If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities.
• There’s always something new to do. In the living, breathing world of Animal Crossing: City Folk, days and seasons pass in real time, so there’s always something to discover. Catch fireflies in the summer, go trick-or-treating on Halloween or hunt for eggs on Bunny Day. If you’re in the mood for something a little faster paced, take a bus to a new urban city area that’s unique to Animal Crossing: City Folk. There you can catch a show at the theater or check out the sales at Gracie’s boutique. But if you don’t show your face back home for too long, your neighbors will miss you.
• Up to four people from your household can live and work together to build the perfect town. Design clothes and patterns, write letters and post messages on the bulletin board for each other, or invite up to three friends to visit your town using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With the new WiiSpeak microphone, it’s like you’re all in the same room. The microphone sits atop the sensor bar and picks up the conversation of everyone in the room to encourage a more inclusive experience.
• Get to know your neighbors. The heart of Animal Crossing: City Folk is building relationships with the animals in your town as well as with other players. Befriend your animal neighbors by exchanging letters, gifts and favors. Animals can also move from town to town, bringing their memories and stories from their old towns with them. And since animals are notoriously loose-lipped, they spill all the juicy details.
• Express your personal style. Customize your town, your house and yourself by collecting bugs, fish, fossils, art, furniture, clothes and accessories. You can also go to the salon in the city to change your hairstyle and get a Mii™ makeover. Plus, if you design clothes in the tailor’s shop, animals will wear them and maybe even bring them to other towns.
